About Rebecca Beville

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I provide individual, couple, and family therapy. I hope to offer a window into my presence, perspective, and space, so that you can begin to assess our “goodness of fit.” I value authenticity, empathy, and equality, and strive to uphold these notions in the therapeutic relationship. I find that a real and honest connection is one of the most powerful vehicles for change. While I hope that it inspires you along your path, I must admit, I am also deeply moved by the relationships and stories that are shared in this space. For this reason, I enter our work with a great deal of humility and gratitude.

I hope to honor and acknowledge the uniqueness of each person by integrating ideas and interventions from multiple modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Attachment, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic based interventions. While I primarily ground myself in a client-centered, post-modern approach, I am trained in a number of behavioral approaches (e.g. CBT) from which we may incorporate concepts into our work. It is important to me that your voice and expertise is held at the same level as mine, so that together, we can create a map of treatment that aligns with who you are and the change you want to see.

My educational background is rooted in the understanding that humans are not islands – we can only be understood through a systemic lens; one that acknowledges the interconnectedness of our mind-body-spirit, as well as the impact of our families, communities, and social institutions. I have carried this knowledge with me in my work as an integrated mental health clinician at UCSD Family and Preventative Medicine, a research clinician for two Dignity Therapy studies, and a trainee supporting access to mental health care at PrevenCasa, a free health care clinic in Tijuana, Mexico.

I have experience working with a variety of issues, including life cycle transitions, grief & loss, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, end of life, and a variety of relational dynamics.
