Each person has within themselves an infinite world, layered with aspects of self, others, experiences and 200 billion years of DNA that has continued to evolve our species. Our psyche is so complex, often fraught with competing impulses that are often unconscious and autonomic. Some of our parts have developed to biologically support our survival – can you imagine if we had to remember to breathe? Other parts have developed to support our emotional and psychological survival, as identified through Internal Family Systems as protectors, managers or exiles. When we are exposed to big or unfamiliar emotional states as often accompanied with a traumatic event, expanded states of consciousness -through meditative or psychedelic means -, or we have an out-of-body experience, this can sometimes result in confusion, overwhelm, disconnection from reality, or fragmentation within our personality structure. We might feel lost, anxious, angry, inauthentic, sad, alone or out of touch with present day reality. This can lead to distressing symptoms and maladaptive behaviors as we struggle to assimilate these experiences into our everyday lives.
At Mindful Guides, we honor the immense complexity of the human experience. We understand the deep yearning for inner coherence, and the courage it takes to reorient and integrate after profound or destabilizing experiences. Our skilled clinicians work from a trauma-informed, relational lens and offer compassionate, individualized care. We take a multi-layered, integrative approach that respects your unique process while supporting movement toward greater clarity, balance, and embodiment.
We recognize that altered states of consciousness — whether spiritually expansive or crisis-induced —can challenge our sense of identity and existing frameworks of meaning. Incorporating newfound awareness into our daily lives can feel overwhelming, even isolating. The desire to change — to live in alignment with an awakened inner truth — may feel simultaneously urgent and impossible.
Our trained clinicians incorporate various skills, tools, and therapeutic models, including Somatic Experiencing®, PAT, parts work, mindfulness-based practices, psychodynamic and narrative frameworks to not only process these transformative experiences but also metabolize them — turning insight into integration, and fragmentation into wholeness. We strive to help you metabolize these experiences,so that they can be a source of wisdom, growth and healing.
Integration is a continual process that, with attuned and consistent support, can transform and expand our life, and the lives of those around us, for the better.
